Hi everyone out there,
This is my 3rd time keeping chickens but the first time all on my own.
We went a little overboard when getting chickens. I got 10 RIR's, 9 Americanas, 3 Welsumers, 5 Cuckoo Marans (1 is a roo), some BR's, Red Stars, New Hampshires, 2 Buff Cochins, 3 Black Giant roos, some SLW's, 3 white ones, a couple of other black ones, some Speckled Sussex and the free rare breed chick that was also shipped. Totaling around 65 or so. Got some from the feed store then placed an order. Only lost 2 in the brooder out of 75. Since moving them outside there have been a few more casualties.
I am choosing not to listen to my country raised bf and all the things he tries to tell me about chickens due to some of the casualties.
I have been researching all sorts of stuff and keep finding myself back here reading the forums.
I also have 6 dogs and 2 cats. 1 dog is terrified of chickens, 3 don't care but won't let anything else on the property, 1 is obsessed with guarding all birds and 1 I wouldn't dream of trusting him for a split second.
Hi from Arizona.
