So im looking at possibly buying a Splash Blue Laced Red Wyandotte roo from someone for $10,
She said she had them shipped in and he has Foley bloodlines and is show quality..

I dont know much about the breed (im more into Bantam breeds)
Would he be worth the $10?

He is pretty!! Just wanted to get others thoughts on him before I told the woman 'Yes' because he is a larger breed and I have all Bantams right now (but my MIL has LF red sex-links) He would really be my first large bird! But I dont know if I can pass up the show quality considering im just starting to get into show!

I really don't know wyandottes but he doesn't look show quality. Hs coloring looks off also. He is cute though!

I think more pictures would help. Look for yellow legs and a good correct comb... he looks very young and wyandottes take 18 months to mature compleatly.

She sent me 2 pictures one of a darker blue (almost black) lacing and then this one. she said that one was the splash and one was just the normal Blue Laced Red, I wikied the Wyandotte and the picture of the Blue Laced Red matched him closer.. IDK. like I said Im more into Bantams!

Depends on what your plans for him would be. I dont keep splashes in my breeding pen personally. To say that he is show quality is just a ploy everyone seems to use a lot these days. Just because he has good bloodlines supposedly doesnt mean it will be show quality anyway. Youd have to wait untill about 6 months old at least to get a good idea of the body type. If it were me and you were wanting to get into the breed Id save my money and buy chicks directly from the Foleys that way you know where they came from for sure. Jmho

LF Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and LF blue and black wyandottes all from Jerry Foley , white, black, blue and barred wyandotte bantams. F2 bantam mottled wyandotte project chicks, Bantam Mottled cochins blue and black.1 pair of pastel call ducks. Bunch of gamefowl chicks and a lot more chicks hatching. NPIP  # 43-705

I wouldn't. My reason? It takes a good Wyandotte forever to feather out. Much longer than 8 weeks, especially the males. He doesn't have good plumage color in the lacing department, even if he is young. It's entirely possible that he is a fluke and a show stopper once he grows up, but I'd rather go directly to the source and be sure before wasting money and feed to find out that the bird purchased is less than stellar.

Both very smart reasons!!

Im just putting off having birds shipped at this point in time... I want to get chicks shipped but my reasons for constantly putting it off is
1. Im scared to get shipped babies an have them die
2. honestly dont know what other breed to get into... Right now im into Mille Fleur, Black Tailed White Japanese, Silkies, Seramas and later this year I am suppose to get a couple Sebrights from a breeder who gets them shipped, himself, as eggs.
3. cost of shipping (husband is the only one working right now as im getting ready for college and I stay home with our daughter)
I know when we had snakes shipped in last winter, shipping on them was around $68
and 4... my MIL... roll
