seem like a good breed, if i had the room i would probably raise a batch of them they seem like they would be a good 4h starter show bird...considering i dont see many of this breed in my class...

I live in the southeast corner of New Mexico. I can't find any true silkies around here, but they are by far my favorite. I have purchased many eggs by mail and have not had very good luck with the hatches. All the packages have had to come from very far away and I think the traveling is too hard on them. I usually have at least a 90 % hatch when I hatch my own eggs but some of my shipments have not hatched at all or only 3-5 hatch out of 2 dozen. I really want to buy some fertile eggs but I would like for them to not have to travel so far.

I would post in the "Where am I? Where are you!" section as well. There should be a NM thread you can post in smile .

One 3 year old flock: 1 partridge roo, 2 SLW, 3 GLW, 1 BLRW. 5 new pullets: Nh red(maybe roo though), black silkie, Maranaucana, blue orp and black orp. And 26 eggs in the bator!! Also, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 7 pure mini lops(selling 5 of them so contact me for info!), mom and dad who are scared as to how far this chicken thing is going, two younger brothers and a sis (Goldlaced_Girl)
