Maybe the "Northeast" mountain lion is in actuality a "Midwestern" mountain lion that made a right at the Erie? The Gov't needs to stop trying to lie, and just inform people what they;ve got living in their yards. If people are aware, they can protect themselves. "Forewarned is forearmed" as far as I'm concerned. I live here on the Island. The most dangerous creature out here is a runaway bull from a local farm. Then again-I think the deer tick is probably the scariest.
A very important piece of the puzzle is that they say they haven't seen an Eastern Cougar carcass since the late 1800s. I am willing to agree...these are western transplants that they have a hard time admitting they introduced to NYS!
I find it is amazing that the can track one, solely using DNA, from Colorado to Connecticut but can't find any in NYS. It is baffling.
We have bear less than five miles from me and it eats at my wife's friend's bird feeder...but, we still have no bears. Yeah, right!!!
Ticks are bad. Not only do you have Lyme disease, you now have Babesiosis there. And, it is spreading.
