I have a wedding to go to next weekend and be seriously looking to get chickens when I get back (if the coop & run are complete).

3 Black Sex Link, 2 Barred Rock & 3 Ameraucana!

Noob to chicken ownership and loving it!

Karen and I are both hatching eggs on May 25 or so.  I'll have Light Sussex and White Orpingtons.  You're welcome to some of my chicks.  I only plan to keep 1 hen of each.  Of course, I have no idea how to tell hens from roos until they get bigger.

Speaking of which, I'm watching Lavinia to see if she shows any roo signs.  But her feathers are coming in the same way the other girls did and other than having big feet, she seems to be just like the other girls.

We finished the additional run area.  I put in some branches and a hanging basket.  Gonna put in a swing and some other activities.  I decided to keep the birdbath but forego the fountain - too complicated.  I planted some shrubs around the run to make it look more like part of the yard and less like a zoo exhibit.

I'll post pix so you all can tell me what you think.

I've already locked the girls up.  So far, no serious complaints.

A+ in chicken math:  1 BS + 1 BR + 1 BA + 1 GC + 2 EE + 1 BO +1 SLW + 1 SS + 1 LO + 1 GLW + 1 BCM + 1 AW + 1 BCF = 8.  I am married to The King of Coops and I have a firefighter daughter who's my hero.  We also have a spoiled designer dog (a/k/a expensive mutt), a deaf calico cat and Brutus, the wonder cat.

Is anyone interested in trading a SS roo for a laying hen?

Sweet Puppy Heather. I used to know many people in the bouvier world, when they were a rare breed. I used to breed and show Cane Corso, and the Bouvier were always right ahead of us in breeds. Great people and great dogs. Good luck with her.
