Here are a few pics of the roos yesterday heading to freezer camp, my daughter was traumatized. But she got over it. also note to self, don't butcher chickens on hot and humid days. Feathers stick to everything.IMG_6267.JPGIMG_6281.JPGIMG_6237.JPG

Thanks, I think we are going to oven roast them this Friday stuffed with lemon and rosemary. I butchered them Sat, can i keep them refrigerated until we cook them Fri?  That will be a 6 day refrigeration. Or should we freeze them tomorrow and defrost and cook on Fri. I'm not sure how long they will stay in the fridge.

You should freeze them and then thaw a day or two before going to cook them depending on your frig. Can you freeze them today??

I am writing this from the country club pool deck, in my alternate identity as Suburban Mom. I think all of Westchester is here enjoying the one break in the rain. I would rather be weeding the garden but that's just me.

The very, very good news is that not only did I find a home for Baby Chipmunk I have scores of back-ups. So if anyone had a roo that they're only discovering now let me know. They are mostly over this side in Dutchess and Putnam though.

Donna I ordered both nerd shirts and I can't wait to get them. I also found a "Got rhubarb?" tank top which should be interesting. What's going on with the rats? I like that tread feeder, I have tiny voles that get into my feed, I might order that feeder too

I wonder how many of these ladies bought their straw cowboy hats at TractorSupply? lol.png

The big hens are still chasing the chicks around. Does the bullying slow down? Neither of them has blood or wounds but should I be concerned?

We ALWAYS go to Stormville.  Another BYC trip we could all take.  We were there for Springtime in April.  Nice job on the roosters, by the way.  Look good enough to eat.  Enjoy!

And does your daughter know you posted a picture of her with her hair in a towel?  Be careful or you'll end up in freezer camp with the roos.

I will keep in mind the roo back-ups.  Bobby is convinced Lavinia is a roo because she's got these feathers sticking up from her "shoulders".  I don't see any rooish comb or wattle coloring.  She'll be 4 weeks old on Tuesday.  Shouldn't I notice something by now?

But you can bet money that the WO will be a roo, simply because it's the only one I got.  At least my odds are better with the LS chicks.

Agatha has turned into a real *itch with the chicks in the coop.  They never come out into the run because she terrorizes them.  Plus, she carries on very loud and long after laying an egg.  Which is a joke because she lays the smallest eggs I get.  *sigh*  Perhaps she needs a trip to freezer camp with Rich's roos.  I know the bullying ends at some point, but for now they're afraid to come out.

Wait till I get the three babies out there...th.gif
