 Ohhh....we should talk! LOL

I just finished up working on  a UK made...Centenial 221with correct badge etc..... ....scrollface. Pre 1948.Original case etc.

I was at a time the American Rep. for ISMACS.

DH and I have enjoyed refurbishing cabinets etc.... ....we love the work. I've shipped across the country at time some of my finds.

I just am an antique/vintage sewing JUNKIE. No lie, I have hens on nests in a number of colors...... I get them at times inexpensivly...sometimes not cause i JIST WANT THEM loL . But not often because NYC area is a cut your neck kinda place for pickers/dealers.

I've perhaps sold over 300-400 collectible antique and toy sewing machines in the past 8-14 years or so and need to downsize a couple more.

Suzanne, It appears you are a person who wants to serve others. By moving forward with this, you will be doing just that. Good luck, and get crackin'.

Oh suzanne, I agree with Al 100%! I think this is a great idea. Follow your heart, I think this is where the universe is putting you.

Aw, that is an adorable crow! Sort of reminds me of Peter Pan when they are all trying to crow. Now see Chipmunk hasn't even started crowing yet, and he's around 2 months or 8 weeks old. But I do think it's a he, just has to be based on the comb and the saddle of feathers. If he is a rooster he is the biggest Weenie of a rooster ever.

We had a long weekend, but I did end up hooking up a $20 fan in the coop which they were promptly all afraid of. I also put a metal catering pan out with ice water and herbs in it a la Tilly's Nest and they not only refused to go in it, I think they pooped in it. I have such low class chickens. ;-) Next time you all trek up to Danbury stop by Harrison and say HI! I didn't know you were coming this way, I might have tried to join you. I can't imagine dragging my husband to that sort of thing plus he would stop me from buying the really cool stuff, but I will come along next time you all go.

On the plus side the puppy is kinda getting better at herding and really helped me get them into the coop for bedtime tonight without scaring them too much. I need to work with someone that actually knows what they are doing re: herding lessons as telling her in English, "No, go that way!" and shoving her in the butt is not really a plan for success.

We harvested a bunch of purple potatoes already thanks to the puppy deciding to play tug of war with the potato stems, but they are really super cool! We got all these and this is just from one potato that I let sprout and then diced up. There's also one scarlet carrot and a few red beets in there too. I'm a believer in planting veggies of weird colors as it gets the kids excited. They had a good time digging for the taters in the dirt with their hands anyway, but they were so purple and cool it made it extra special I think.

So jealous of your harvest!  I have a couple of tomatoes ripening and a lot of cucumber flowers, but for some reason the zucchini is rotting on the plant.  Out of 5, 3 have rotted before being big enough to harvest.  Ideas?

Thanks for all the kind words.  I believe God puts me where he wants me to be, and sometimes a lot of unrelated things come together for that reason.  I have a feeling this may be one of those times.  I'm going to make an appointment with Rick to discuss what he needs, then go to Adelphi and Touro and see what classes I need to take for HS/Special Ed certification.  THEN I'm going to investigate funding options.

The babies crawled under the chain link fence this evening.  It runs along the back of the yard and is about 8" from my neighbor's stockade fence.  We herded the girls to the corner where they crawled under and I pulled 3 out.  Of course, one of them went under the stockade fence into my not-so-nice neighbor's yard.  I scooped up one of the others and held her near the hole the other one went through.  Sure enough, she came back to her sibling (who was sending out quite an SOS).  I pulled her out and everyone went back into lockup.  Unfortunately, at some point in her escapade, she got a scrape on her beak, so I washed it off and put some bacitracin on it.  She settled right down with me and then didn't want to back in the coop.  She wouldn't let go of me.

Oh yeah, and then Brutus had his flea bath.  I'm exhausted.  What a day! th.gif

A+ in chicken math:  1 BS + 1 BR + 1 BA + 1 GC + 2 EE + 1 BO +1 SLW + 1 SS + 1 LO + 1 GLW + 1 BCM + 1 AW + 1 BCF = 8.  I am married to The King of Coops and I have a firefighter daughter who's my hero.  We also have a spoiled designer dog (a/k/a expensive mutt), a deaf calico cat and Brutus, the wonder cat.

One of my 4-month old White Leghorn pullets has started sprouting this growth on her beak. It's made of beak material, and her beak and nostrils are otherwise properly formed.

Has anyone else experienced these odd growths on their chickens?

Other than making her look like the wicked witch with a wart on her nose, do folks here think I have any cause for concern?

Thanks,

George

I also agree! If you trust in yourself to follow what "feels right" to you... allow yourself to be positive... and trust that everything will work out...then opportunities and connections will happen. It's hard to do, I know.

Good morning George I've never seen such a thing . But I'm only at this for 3+ years. Have you posted it on any other thread? Good luck and keep us posted.
