She is so cute.  Lovely eyes.

Awww.......she is a cutie. A friend for her would be cool. Watching chickens interact socially is really interesting as well. You get to understand their language after a while as well.

Thanks for mentioning the heat. That made me check tomorrow's weather and it is going to be 88 for the next two day up here.  Will probably go higher too.  When it gets that hot the fan comes out.  I see them pant at 80 degrees if the sun is strong even with low humidity.  Add the humidity and it becomes worse.  We let one out one day and it was sunny out and she got overheated in 5 minutes.  It took her 15 minutes to get back to normal in the covered run.  When the sun shines on the run at 3 in the afternoon they will run for cover in the coop.  If the fan is on they will stay outside in front of it.  I did not know heat was so bad for them until I got on this forum, and now try to do what we can to keep them cooler.  I thought a jungle bird loved the heat and hated the cold.  Reason enough to get educated when trying to care for any animals you have.

There is a thread where two people had lost birds due to the heat these past couple of days.  http://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=6878367#p6878367

This
is serious stuff.  Hope everyone can keep their chickens shaded and cool for the next few days.  Thanks Maggie for posting about it.

Hang out here anytime you like.  You're still a Yankee and they can't take that away from you. Or wash it off, either.

The more the merrier, and we hope we are a connection for you to times well spent up north.  I think we appreciate NY more after we left the state than when we are living here.  The good memories survive.

Catskill game farm.  A shame its gone.  Took the kids there and still have the pics somewhere.  Where does the time go?

I'm feeling sentimental about this egg but know I'll have to do something before long.  A couple more and I'm going to make that egg salad you did.  Now I'm getting hungry.

BTW, how do you like my new title?  Saw you did it and remembered I needed to take advantage of it too.

Best wishes,
Al
