It actually looks like a coconut to me. What kind of trees were they that your dad cut down? Tropical?

Hey for real, don't be kissing chickens. Salmonella - yuck. Don't let the 4yr old do it at least.

I had read once that someone caught salmonella from kissing chicks....but when I was recently researching NPIP....I learned that the large hatcheries are all NPIP and their chicks should be safe from salmonella.

To anyone that needs meds, let me know.

Doc Browns phone # 410-546-6137 just call him and let him know you are a friend of mine, and I will be bringing your order home.

Even if you get the $25.00 emergency kit, it will be well worth it.

It has all the stuff you can't find, or will pay just that much in emergency shipping when you finally figure it out.

You don't have to order vaccine and such.

I HIGHLY recommend Oxine, it's like the can of Lysol when someone gets sick.

I'm not making anything off of this, I'm trying to save you guys some grief if they get sick.

Tina, they are adorable. My 2 tiny white silkies are 10 weeks old Friday and turning into beauties. Fingers crossed for at least 1 hen. Truth be known I might try to keep a silkie roo this time and see what happens though.

Tina,

Sorry to hear about the problems with your chicks arriving.  I know nothing about silkies, do they grow much slower than the average egg layer?  For 4-1/2 months old they look tiny to me.  Maybe it's just the perspective of the pictures.   Maybe it's just me!

Hope all goes smoothly here on out with your new babies.

I got celeriac (celery root) from my CSA, so I spent
the day making roasted celeriac and potato soup.
Well I don't like celery much so the soup is good and
gross at the same time. Hope my girls like celeriac.
Ick. What a waste of time.

Oh no! I love celery root. I mash it with boiled potatoes. I love, love, love it. Now black radishes on the other hand.... blegh...
