Never name something you're going to eat.  Most of mine are #%$^&@#!!!

I live on 7.5 acres in the western Catskill foothills where I have a 3200 sq.ft veggie garden, 100-plant blueberry patch as well as strawberry and raspberry patches, 4 cats and over 4 dozen chickens: Black Stars, RIR's,  EE's, Brown leghorns, BR's, Buff Orpingtons, Black Australops (including one very happy EE rooster) plus 16 guinea fowl. I've been keeping chickens since I was in high school...

My 5 and 6 year old daughters named ours:

"Filly"-white cochin pullet
"Black"-sexlink pullet
"Brownie" -EE
"Heartsa" -Australorp RIP
"Snowball" Leghorn RIP

I secretly call Black, the sexlink, "Snookie" cuz she gets on my nerves and has an outspoken personality, lol. And parts of her are very orange.

We ordered replacement chicks, another Snowball, another EE unnamed, and another Australorp will be called "Princess Heartsa."

Giving it a go on the homestead...
Married to a supportive Husband, we have 2 daughters, ages 5 and 6.
1 sexlink, 1 cochin, 2 EE, 1 Austrolorp, 1 Leghorn, 1 cat, 1 dog.
And one beast of an organic garden.

When my niece was about 8 years old her mom got three bunnies that they were going to raise for meat (they already had about a dozen chickens, a huge garden and a pig).

My niece quite cleverly named them "Wheat, Milk and Chocolate" because she was allergic to wheat, milk and chocolate and therefore couldn't eat any of them.lol
