FarmerChef really enjoyed my cookie bar thing with my coffee last night!
Maybe next time there will be more people. I did have more this time than last because of the bad storm, this time the terrible heat! It's new to people around here and the local's are not into alot of fancy chickens, more backyard types I think. But hopefully the next one will be better. May try to have one in the fall when it cools off some. Hope everyone will come again. Was good to meet boykin2010! It's nice to put faces with names. Next time I'll have name tags and we can connect BYC names with real names. Right now cannot place who chiks4nena is! Welasharon take care of my babies! Anyway hope everyone had a good time in spite of the heat and my wonderful supply of gnats!

HEY!  THANK YOU SO MUCH for hosting the meet and you're warm hospitality!!  Anyone who did not get a chance to talk with her or her husband - missed and awesome opportunity -  ..  Great people!!!

It was a HOT day in South GA!!!!  Maybe a fall swap following by a "spring kick off swap" would be better?  If we had another one around Feb (the same time Tractor Supply and Feed stores have their chick days) - I think we could pull in some impulse buyers (non BYC members) that tend to make purchases in the spring.  I can tell anyone that the quality of the birds displayed by ALL sellers at the swap were A+ and superior to the straight run feed store chicks.

We actually sold a few of the Lemon Split Orpingtons at the swap and had one person drive over to the farm today to pick up some more and see the facility.  He saw the advertisement about the swap at a feed store and I don't believe he is a BYC member.  They enjoyed the tour of the facility and learned quite a bit on the design to take back and modify to their coop.  Like most visitors that come out - they said the pictures on the web and discussions do it no justice until you see it in person.

The quality of the Lemon Split is what drove him over to pick up more birds.  The 'fluffy' texture of the feathers from the English rooster on the chicks definitely is a dominate trait that shows.

If anyone missed the opportunity to purchase Splits or place deposits on English Choc Orpingtons and English Lemon Orpingtons - feel free to shoot me an IM.  In addition I welcome anyone out to the farm!!!

Take care and hope to see you around....!!

Thanks for the comment on the orps!  I might have spoken with you at the meet - but cannot place people's names with their BYC user name.

Take Care,
Richard

Hey colewood.  Welcome aboard BYC.

I see this is your first post.... This thread looks like it is from last year.  I don't know if the folks are doing the swap again this year.... Perhaps,  this will get folks thinking about it smile.png
