good shrub/tree for chicken run? - Page 3

i have about 3 baby mulberry trees in mine - figure one of them has to survive - of course i have them fenced off - and old tires around em to keep the girls off of them

2 human kids, 18 feathered babies, 2 felines and a big bad guard dog all call me momma.. thank goodness I used surrogate moms for everyone but the humans!

Aren't boxwoods poisonous? Do your chickens peck at the boxwoods?

We have four cherry trees where we want to put our run. They are pretty tall (as they've been here for the almost seven years we've owned the house plus several before that). I have two questions: 1.) Are these okay to have in the run with the girls? 2.) Do I need to put anything around the trunks to protect the tree/girls from getting hurt?

We are going to put netting up to cover the bigger openings of the top of the run, but the tops of the trees will be uncovered (they are just too tall. lol). And the girls will be securely locked away in their coop at night.
