Buff Geese

I'd checked Metzer's website prior to posting, but didn't think to check the blog. And I agree that Metzer is very reputable. I'll have to check it out.

Purchase the SOP (2010 is the current edition) it gives color images as well as full description and faults

Thank you for the recommendation, I will have to upgrade.

I dug out my old standard of perfection book from the 1970s and found American Buff Geese listed (I looked before but must have missed it somehow) with a black-and-white artwork illustration for goose and gander. I was looking more for a picture standard for the breed which is in color and their show standard may have also been changed somewhat since then, so I will look into getting a new edition.

Hmmm. I may be confused (which I'll admit is often the case) but we got 2 American Buffs from Holderread's this summer. I believe that we ordered from the "American, assorted colors" and somehow ended up with Buffs, perhaps because they were thinning their stock?

Anyway, we placed our order in Feb or March of 2012 so this was quite awhile after Mr. Metzer's post. Perhaps they still have some but they are not specifically listed on the order form?

Jeez - so sorry, guys - my internet connection is giving me fits today and I'm not sure how to delete posts. Trying to figure it out might take me all day and take down the whole forum so I'm going to apologize for the multiple posts. Maybe a mod could remove them or I will try again later - my apologies!

Well, that certainly makes sense! And would also explain why one is much more cream colored than the other. Thanks for clearing that up, CelticOaksFarm!
