We are hopefully going to be able to ditch HughesNet for satellite internet and go to a radio something-or-other internet. If we can do that, then we can stream Netflix movies over the Wii. Right now we have DirecTV. I was looking at the Netflix instant offerings and it looks like there are some good tv show options, some good ones for my 2 yr old son, etc.

Have any of you gotten rid of satellite or cable tv and done just Netflix? I know my husband will still want to watch the news, and some of the regular ABC, NBC etc shows so we'll have to get a convertor box too.

If it all works out, that would add about $125 back into the budget... which means he can't really say "no" to a small flock of 4-6 chickens... hehe

I don't have cable, not even a converter box. I can stream through netflix and LOVE it. I also get two DVDs out at a time so I can see things that aren't available through streaming. Definitely an awesome option for entertainment. I don't watch much TV anyway, so it really allows me to choose exactly what I want to see. I also use Hulu.com, which has many shows available for free, with commercials though.

netflix is great we have netflix on our play station 3 and we have cable, and internet,,,,, we are not gonna ditch cable, because there are still a lot of shows on cable my mom likes to see, and we get the news as well

I have had Netflix since there opening day , I got streaming and 1 at a time DVD, because there streaming is lame since I saw most everything on it. But since they have decided to double charge me now for both I just deleted my account. If they would have added new releases onto the streaming I would pay the 15 .99 but not they way it is now.

As soon as my roommate moves out and my boyfriend moves in we are planning on ditching cable and just keeping our high speed internet and Netflix. Will save us about $80 a month and still gives us all the entertainment we need
