Crooked beak chick

A crossed beak chicken is one of the most endearing chickens that you are likely to ever have had the pleasure to have owned..they will need a deep dish to eat from and they need special attention to ensure that they eat and drink well,,,

i have had two of them now and they will attach to you to let you know when they are hungry...

Some crossed beak chickens will live for many years...nurture them..they will give more than they will ever take from you..

I have a millie fleur with a bad cross beak. It is the feistiest most fearless chick in the bunch. I started giving a bowl of wet feed as soon as I discovered its beak. Now all the chicks want wet food. It is staying much smaller than the others. Anyone have any tips on how to help our little beaker survive?

Just make sure it eats and drinks---by keeping and improving her/its feeder if needed. Mine is real crooked and she is over a year old now---doing good, lays almost daily, but she is with only 2 more chickens--both with other problems. She loves wet feed, but will eat her dry in a deep small container---about 3" square----the other 2 eat out of it too but its a automatic fill so she can get some feed any time.

Crossed beaks can be caused by vitamin D deficiency resulting in calcium to phosphorus levels in blood to be thrown off. Similar to rickets. This can also cause soft bones or osteoporotic bones in chickens.

Do their beaks have to be trimmed. Its top beak looks ok the bottom one goes almost totally to the right, you can see it use its tongue to get feed, I have a dry crumble feeder, a bowl of damp feed, and one of very wet soupy feed it eats at all 3. It doesn't look skinny just staying smaller than the others

We crush the egg shells and feed back to our big chickens can this also be given to small chicks approximately 8 weeks old
