So, for pellets, the pipe needed to be raised a bit from the gutter/trough? I usually feed layer but since I have mixed ages for now, I've been using Flock Raiser crumbles cause that's all my TSC carries.

I've already shown this to hubby & told him that is the feeder I want to use! The only issue is where to put it. We've still gotta figure out where were gonna put roosts & such. One wall has nest boxes, one wall has people door, one wall has 2 windows & chicken door. There's only one other wall (with a small window) & I was thinking about putting a ladder roost there. Now, I gotta rethink plans.

This is what I did because I have chicks and they spread the feed AND want to get IN the hanging feeders I have. I haven't installed it yet on the wall but will probably tomorrow. This is the vinyl gutter with the gutter guards over it because I KNEW mine would want to get IN the food! lol I put the end caps on the ends and also drilled holes in the gutter AND the end caps so I could bolt them together so they wouldn't knock the end caps off. They get wild when they feed with 15 RIR's and 23 black aust. and sex links! The gutter guards are really flimsy so I don't really think the edges will hurt them where I cut out the holes.

We have never had issues with mice in our coop, but if one got in I can promise it would never make it out alive!

I believe it really depends on your coop and it's setup, if a mouse really wants the food, no system is perfect they will get in, but our coop is protected and no mice have ever been seen or noticed around the food. Good luck and you'll love how easy this feeder is and how little room it takes up, and the best part is no spillage!
lol that's funny! Hey IF I get mice all I gotta do is sick our 3 cats on them. Don't think I will have any trouble with them with these 3 cats here we have that LOVE to hunt down the things! I might have to put me some of those pipes on mine when my chicks get larger.

After looking at various types of feeders, I decided to try this one. Got it done today. Home Depot had the 3" pipes already precut to a perfect height. It was super easy and seems like it's going to work great. Ty!!
