Scaley Leg Mites? *PICS*

I read a post several months ago recommending to use "bag balm" on their legs/feet to prevent leg mites and I did and haven't had any problems and since your still in an early stage if that is even the problem then you might try it.

Where do you get this so I can get it and have it on hand? Trying to get my medicine cabinet made now. So I will have it on hand when and if I need it.

I think you can buy it even at Walmart in the pharmacy area or at the feed store since it is for udders. Castor oil, vaseline, and vegetable oil also work well for leg mites.

Thank you. Already have the castor oil in my med. cabinet. I just like to have all this stuff on hand when and if I ever need it. I am just starting out with chickens as of the spring so working on my medicine cabinet.

I like natural and not a bunch of chemicals and stuff. :) Thank you again!!!

I have acquires a new chicken with a severe case of Scaley lag mites and have been doing a veg oil dip daily for the last 8 days. The majority of her legs are 90% improved. However, she started with a cream colored hard growth on the upper back part of her leg and it has not gotten smaller. It has change colour to black as well. Additionally, she had two deformed toes (bulbous black growths on tips of toes instead of nails) which also have not changed. I am wondering if these are just permanent scarring or something else. I have attached a before photo to show, this growth is now blackish. Thank in advance for any help.
