Help! My daughter and I picked up all the feathers in the chicken coops and in the yard. We would like to make some money to help pay for the chicken feed using the feathers. We are looking for resources to sell them to.

Does anyone have instructions on how to make Jewelry, Hair Extension, Hair Accessories, Crafts, etc using chicken feathers?

Or do you have pictures of items made using chicken feathers?

If you bunch some together you can make a REALLY nice headband or hairpiece. My older sister has one like that, though you have to be very careful when making it.

I'm really not sure. I reckon some people would buy packs of those feathers, they're very pretty. Another way to get money for feed and other expences would be to sell extra eggs, but you probably already know that.

yes, but my pullets have not all started laying. Now in a few weeks, I will have more eggs than I will know what to do with. Gonna take them to the farmers market. How much do fresh eggs usually sell for? Do blue eggs usually sell for more than white? Do the cream to light brown sell for more? Or is is basically according to the size of the egg?

You might be able to sell packages of certain types of feathers to people who like tie flies... As in fly fishing. Eggs sell for $2 a doz. at the farmers market here. Most of mine aren't old enough to lay yet, but I'll be up to my ears in eggs too!

Well, I sell them for $4 a dozen. The price should be a bit cheaper than store-bought eggs. I have a mix of bantam eggs, white eggs, speckled eggs etc and I sell them for the same price. From stories I have read here, you Ned to explain to the customer why the eggs are blue before they buy them. Im sure someone else will have a better answer.
ETA: I'm in Australia so the prices would be completely different.

Fro those who do not know of blue eggs: The blue eggs are from purebred ameraucana chickens and the bluish green eggs are from Araucana chickens. Only 1 of our pullets is an EE and not sure if she is laying yet.
Thanks, I will need to check the price of eggs at the store since I have not bought eggs in months, maybe even a year. all our laying pullets and hens except for the d'anver are free range chickens which makes the eggs even better.

We sold 10 feathers at a local beauty salon for $15.00. It wasn't much, however, it pays for a bag of chicken feed. In larger cities the prices are higher for feathers but here the prices have dropped on feathers for hair extensions.

The feather in her hair is a hackle feather from our Champion Blue Wheaten Ameraucana who took the AOSB class the Spring Poultry Show in Little Rock this year! She found them laying in his coop.

Check out etsy.com and try chicken or feather.....they have them selling for like thirty bucks! You can buy the beads to go with them from eBay. Hope this helps!
