my gals looooove ramen noodles, they go crazy for em and chase each other around because the best noodle is the one the other chicken has

but how often should i be treating my girls to noodles? once a day? once every other couple days? once a week? i want to get my girls more comfortable with me so i can pet and maybe hold them so treat time is very important

In my experience, coming out daily with something for your hens will quickly gain their trust. But I don't think noodles every day is the best approach. Also bending or crouching down and making eye contact with them while you feed them will build a one on one bond. My black hen Elle, gets right up in my lap to eat any time I want. I just pat my leg and she jumps up and eats! LOL

I bring a chunk of bread and give a little to each hen daily, on weekends or after bad weather, I give them each a few meal worms (which is also known as "Crack For Chickens!"). But every day we have a small plastic feeder that hooks on the inside of the coup which I put a cupful of seed in. They love this enough that it lasts all day and keep them happy, but ther are few replacements for mealworms. If you want your chickens addicted to your company...mealworms are the ticket. Be warned though...they go nuts for them!

well then.... i had better get my butt to the pet store

i just checked out the treat list so that'll be good for variety, im glad i can give them treats once a day. i want my chickens to love me

Just curious . . . Wouldn't meal worms be mostly protein - so that would make them a healthy snack and would help with egg production? (maybe?) I know my chickens love them!

yes...mealworms are protein rich and chickens go freakin' crazy for them. I like giving them mealworms a few times a week as special treats. Also I'm refering to "Live" meal worms.

you don't have to give extravagant treats. mine love corn, scratch, corn, sweet corn on the cob, corn and corn

I made a homemade flock block with the recipe on this site. I give a chunk daily to my girls. They eat it quickly! I use peanuts, oats, sunflower seeds, and cracked corn. I also throw a handful of sunflower seeds daily for them in the morning.

Oh, I usually give a fruit in the late afternoon to cool them down a bit. Applesauce and watermelon are a hit.

not sure if I treat them too much but they are pretty spoiled. I give them something different everyday, whether it be corn on the cob or cabbage swinging on a rope. They also like lettuce, yogurt mixed with feed, spaghetti, hanging apples...now they are demolitioning an eggplant on a string. They won't eat different things unless it's swinging around on a rope. Weird girls but very funny
