You can try your local Craigslist, or look at the BYC auction section.  Also, I would recommend looking in the section under "Where am I? Where are you?" and see if there is an OH thread already started (probably is).  Introduce yourself on that sub-forum and put out the word that you are looking for hens and you may find someone close to you who is willing to part with some.

Hello!

What breeds are you interested in?  I use a hatchery called the Meyer Hatchery in Polk Ohio, but I only buy chicks there, because they trim the beaks of laying hens and I don't like that.

I would also check Craigslist, and Bestfarmbuys.com is a good website where you can put in your zip code and find poultry for sale within a certain radius (like 50 miles).

I live in Strasburg Ohio, which is in the Boliver/Dover, New Philadelphia area.....

Welcome and nice to meet a fellow Ohioan!

Currently keeping a flock of 14 chickens, one rooster and 13 hens.  I have three Easter Eggers, three Golden Buffs, two Marans and six Buff Brahmas.  My hobbies are gardening, chicken keeping, and beekeeping.  I'm married with two sons, a step son and daughter, and two really cute grandkids!
