I have a sick chicken in a box in my office today. I think she is egg bound. She's had laying problems from the start. I gave her a warm bath, an oil enema, and keeping her comfortable. she won't eat or drink. doesn't look good. I'm heartbroken.

I have a question about pine shavings...

I have my chicks on paper towels, and I want to start using pine shavings. What size pine shavings do you all use? Course, medium or fine? What brand do you use and where do you get them from? Pet store, Agway, etc

I can not believe how fast my babies are growing. I have had them a week and they have almost  trippled in size.

And they make quiet little chirping noises during the night, (well it is mostly one that does that).

I am sooooo in  love.

You can get them at agway, or from friends that woodwork. any hardwood or pine is fine, just no cedar or anything to fine, like sawdust. i use coffee chaff.

I'm so happy you got your fuzz butts. I'm on the other end of the emotional spectrum. Dahlia passed away yesterday. She was one of the chicks from last spring when you came to see my coop. She was a beautiful girl. so sweet. i'll miss her.

I get mine at TSC, but going to agway this weekend to scope out prices as I am buying 4-5 bundles so that I do not have to make a trip a week.
