We're on the opposite side of the state. My advise it to make the coop bigger than you think you need, with more nest boxes. I only have 4 chickens, but 2 are broody at the moment so both boxes are occupied. Neither will be moved either. Good luck!

when one of my girls goes broody I put her in chicken jail.  Chicken jail happens to be an empty rabbit hutch.  I block off the back of the hutch so she can't get to the dark room,  In the front I put food, water and the broody girl  NO NESTING MATERIALS.   2 to 3 days and she's good to go.

No not really new, but was looking for info on ordinances in Plainville. I know people who have them and heard of "chirpping" boxes being delivered, but without walking in and possibly causing a stir, I have no clue if they are allowed and how many.

hu.gifThanks, Mikedero. The zoning is R-10 but  E.1.a. says: "no livestock or poultry, except for household pets, shall be kept on any lot of less than two acres." So does that mean that the chickens are illegal? Where abouts in NB? Me too.
