I like the PR bantams but I doubt I have room for another pen since I just built a cochin bantam pen (that puts me up to 6 pens [4 bantam ameraucana, 1 bantam cochin, 1 mallard] plus 2 hutchs with chickens, Call Ducks and pigeons in!)! How are the males personalities? I would love to try some out ...

Try to grab the judge after he's through judging and ask him some questions about why he placed your birds like he did. This is a great way to learn. You can also compare your birds to those that placed higher, or you could be pleasantly surprised and take the top honors.
Every judge is going to have his or her own opinion, too, so just going to one show won't necessarily determine how your birds will do at another show. I showed my cockerel in at least 3 shows where he didn't win anything before that happy day that he won Champion. There are so many factors that work together to determine which bird wins; competition, their condition, the judge, etc. The important thing is to always have fun and learn all you can.
Good luck!
Thank you they are a mixture of cast offs from a 4h girl and hens bought direct from a show breeder! I have no clue what i am doing but coming from a show dog background i am hoping at least my eye for an "IT factor" will kick in! These little guys, are some of the sweetest chickens ever!!
We are still looking, into adding a couple more bantam Plymouth Rock colors. I REALLY want to get some buffs.
Our Columbians.....

I may know someone willing to swap a few Buff Plymouth Rock Bantam eggs this fall. PM me with what you may have available.
Your prayers are appreciated! The divorce was granted.
I will be on/off BYC. If we owe you hatching eggs, please forward us the listing information. We are almost caught up on them and do not wish to miss anyone. Geese are now laying!
