Watering

I have a regular waterer with a gallon container. I also have tupperware bowls here and there with half bricks in the middle to keep them from tipping them over. Then there's the water lily ponds that they like to drink out of. Long as they can drink the water, whatever works.

2 gallon metal water feeder from agway,$24?,,if you get the metal one you can get the electric base for it for winter,,,TSC has 1 gal plastic hanging ones they're like $15

I like the 2 gall because with 12 birds it'll last 2 days if something happened and I couldn't get to them, they have a 3 and a 5 gallon also

i love the cup system!!! but i just have a couple little heavy duty bowls and buckets sitting out. kind of messy looking.

If it holds water then I add it!
I have horse troughs, feed pans, water buckets, regular gallon and 3 gallon chicken water containers, 5 gallon buckets filled and turned upside down in a shallow pan with a rock under the lip for water fill, small kiddie pools, big kiddie pools, cheap dollar pans from the local dollar store.
It's hot and I have a farm so where there are chickens, ducks or Guineas, I add water.

They don't care! They are animals. All they require is fresh cool water so the container doesn't matter.

well the container does matter because we don't wanna clean the bucket constantly when they kick up stuff into it. that's why the cups are such a good idea!

Where can you get the cup watering system and how does it work?

The only thing I will say is watch out for deep troughs that they cant stand up in.  If the water gets low and they sit on the edge and fall in trying to drink you may find a dead bird floating.  It doesnt happen often here, but is has happened in the large stock tank for the horses.  Terri O

go to the main index and see how you can build a cheap feeder and waterer for next to nothing, I have many assorted sizes of plastic buckets to use in different areas and sizes of flocks, the only problem is with large buckets they can be difficult to invert, so we are going to put a spigot in one, close to fill the bucket, and tighten the top (it must be airtight or the water will just drain out) set the whole thing in a plastic planter bottom and it works.  The next feeder we will try a game feeder that spews the feed out in intervals, cost is under $50, try tractor supply,  these are for when we might not be there  every day.
When I am there, they get to roam the yard, there's a distilled water drip from the a/c unit that fills a large bucket and then overflows to a saucer set on blocks, the biggest problem is keeping the bedding and chicken  poop out of it, you can also use empty soda bottles,  fill them make a hanger and invert overr a saucer.  They are clear so you can easily see how much is left. Oh, and cut plastic is sharp, so sand it down so nobody gets cut sticking their heads in
