Anyone use "Red Cell" for their showbirds? I have a ?? - Page 4

I have used Red Cell in my silkies for years now and have never had a problem.  I mix about one tablespoon if even that much in five gallons where the water looks  to have just a bit of a yellow tint to it but nothing strong.  I never lost a bird from it and have raised numerous chicks on it as well when they were a few weeks of age and older.  I today had a post to a person on a facebook post where her bird was a little under the weather.  I suggested using red cell and was flamed by a lady who totally disagreed with it stating it would cause toxic poisoning from too much iron to the birds if you use it.  Well, I get it if you would use a large amount but a couple of teaspoons in five gallons of water is not strong at all.  Just my opinion though.  I have had great results with it and will continue to use it! :)

12 Black silkie hens, one splash rooster, 7 splash silkie hens,  three buff silkie hens, one buff silkie rooster, five white roosters and five white hen silkies...One pug dog, two horses and four barn cat...and in doctorate school, yes I am busy!  :)

My chicken is sick after having a lice outbreak! I got rid of the lice and plan to give her red cell after reading all the helpful comments! I don't know what else to do at this point. She's weak, seems anemic, lethargic. Hoping it will help!

When I recieved it, it says its for horses so I e-mailed them thinking I ordered the wrong thing. They contacted me very quickly and said some of the best breeders use this for their chickens and also gave me dosing instructions. I forgot to ask if it was safe for 6 week old chicks and how often should I give it to my adult birds. If anyone uses it, please let me know how you use it. (Weekly, daily, etc.. I change the water every day) Thanks smile.png

Just wondering how your chicken is doing after you used red cell? I've got a rooster that was deathly sick last week with respiratory crud and I got that cleared up and he's better but still not back to normal. I treated him for lice/mites and thought maybe the red cell would help.

Hi there, I didn't end up using the red cell so I can't really comment on that.  I have read a lot of good things though!
