Caring for chickens with filed beaks

What scares me is that the Humane Society is saying it is up to me to worm them and they will not test for worms before adoption. I'm still on the fence. They are animals in need, but I don't want to risk my flock. Once your ground is infected with some parasites, the only way to get rid of them is to burn the ground or remove top soil (i.e. Whip Worm).

I'm looking to adopt (rescue) 4 - 6 battery - factory farmed hens. I live in a neighborhood - so roosters are out of the question..... Anyway, I'm in Central Florida - Can anyone on this forum help?
Thanks much!

My chicken hazel was purchased at 6 months. They cut her top beak. My other chickens can eat mini tomatoes and other things. Hazel cannot. She is healthy and eats crumbles, i would like her to be able to enjpy more foods. We have lots of room for them. We have grass ,pavement ,rock on a half acre the roam daily. Large coop for 3 at night. Hoping someone can tell me can I file the lower beak to match if I do it in a process. I mean a little ever few weeks ???
