I started to fill a new plastic kiddie pool bought a couple of months ago, and saw it leaking water from an inch and a half cut/slice about two inches from the bottom. Any idea on whether this can be repaired at all, and in such a way that the geese will leave it alone? Since they are seasonal items, I may not be able to replace the darn thing!

You probably can repair it with a little rubber patch like the kind made to seal bicycle inner tubes and some "Seals All" adhesive. Just be sure its bone dry when you put on the Seals All, because any moisture will make it refuse to stick. It will then have to dry about 24 hours before you can use it.

Thanks, Denninmi. Can the patch and Seals All be found at Home Depot or do I need to look for a bicycle shop?

Walmart should have them. You could also try tons of hot glue on both sides, or a good thick glue/adhesive that is waterproof. (not sure if any hot glues are). Also could prob make a patch with plumbers glue and random pieces of plastic like from butter tubs, etc.

On the other hand maybe you can pick a new one up dirt cheap. I always bought what I could at the end of the summer because they take up a lot of storage space or if returned to a central warehouse like Walmart does a lot of truck space. I usually looked for the department manager and dickered about price to buy 5-6 at a time depending on the stock he had showing usually got them for half price or less. It never hurts to ask.

I don't know if this would work but maybe. Anyway I overheard a friend telling about patching a kayak using a cool whip bowl. He said he melted it in small amounts with a lighter and layer by layer patched a kayak. You might try a Google search to find out more.

Good Luck!

BTW I thought this might patch a lot of things.

I don'to know if a cool whip bowl will work. I'm sure your pool is flexible so that would be a problem. I think the bike patch idea is a really good one. You may want to ask someone in plumbing what might work or even call a pool place to see if they have patches for there above ground pools. Maybe a neighbor has one and a repair kit comes with the pool. Geese nibble so you want it to stick very well. I know this because my geese pull the plugs on my pools all the time. I even put big rocks over the plug which is helping. Good luck and I know how tough it is to find these pools.

if silence is golden then duct tape is silver.
