I was totally floored by these bright orange-speckled roos! I originally had Buff Orp & Australorp hens, with a Buff Orp roo & a BLRW roo..

Now, I had read that an Australorp hen & a Buff Orp roo would produce blue grey australorp males (which I got) & black & gold females (which I ended up with only 1 female out of 10 chicks hatched

). Now someone else recenly told me that was completely wrong-that orp mixes are not sex linked in that way?? In any case I'd like to know which is right & also your opinions on the orange roo...could that be a result of the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte & Australorp? What do you think?

Who's My Mama & Daddy? (see previous post also for more info & pics) Baby chicks: 2 dark black chicks became bright orange roos in question , 2 buff Orps-both roos (obviously both parents buff Orps), the med black chick with white stripe-was only female-black & gold Australorp/Buff Orp mix, and then the lighter grey/black chicks...were also all roos & one pictured here-also unclear parentage. Parents: Its between Buff Orp & Australorp hens & a Buff Orp or a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte (this post middle photo) roo. What do you think?
