I just got some eggs today(Saturday) that were laid thursday, and i know that eggs can be kept up to 10 days and possibly, POSSIBLY still be fertile and hatchable. But i am also getting some eggs from another person, and i might not get them until monday or sunday. Should i put the eggs i have now under my broody now and then add the others later, or should i wait and have them all together, then put it under her?

Nobody has any ideas?

I don't know, but am in the same boat as you are. I didn't have a rooster for a while and my hens went broody. Then I brought in our new roo, but he was young. Meanwhile a friend gave me some eggs for the girls. So I went ahead and set them.

Now the first eggs are due, but the girls have stashed another clutch of eggs from the newly fertile and performing rooster. I have no clue what will transpire.

i would put the ones you have now under the broody....mark the hatch date with a pencil....then put the others and mark the hatch date....when they start hatching you will have to decide to finish hatching the first ones yourself and brood them until the others hatch ...or finish incubating the second batch ..because the hen will leave the nest with the 1st batch usually within 24 hours..either way you should be able to put your brood under the hen at night to mix with the ones she has ...my thought is i havent had good luck with eggs over 7 days old
good luck !

I don't know if I can hatch the first brood by myself, I don't have an incubator, only the hen... Should I still put the eggs under her?

uhm, if i get the eggs monday (worst case), then the oldest egg will be about 5 days old...

for sure i would wait and put them all at once as 7 days is the majic number for me...i dont like them to get older than 7 days...i think 5 days should not affect your hatch at all..good luck with them..

I hatched out two different batches in June... they were a week apart. I was not sure if my broody would do i, but she stuck right by those eggs. It was very successful!
