FOR SALE IN AR: Mandarin, White call and Ancona ducklings

I'm sorry everyone, I have decided I just can't ship. I am a VERY, VERY busy homeschooling, 4-H mom with a 160 acre ranch. I have 6 mandarin ducklings, unsexed. My daughter shows her ducks at the county fair. We always have many people asking to buy her mandarins so I know I can sell them there in september. These 6 mandarins will be $10 each here off the farm for the next 2 weeks. First come, first serve. If we don't sell them that way, we will just raise them till the fair. After 2 weeks, the price will go up due to our time invested in them. I would be very willing to trade a duckling or 2 with anyone who has a mandarin drake and wants to get different genetics. We need an unrelated drake.

We have 17 white call ducklings, unsexed. They will also be $5.00 each for the next 2 weeks, off the farm.

Thank you, everyone, for your interest in our ducks. Sorry that due to gasoline prices and time constraints, I can't help you out more with meeting or shipping.

I completely understand.
Hummmmm...... I might still be able to get them. The first week in June, we may be going to Eufaula, and if we do, that would put me 2 hrs. closer!

I will get back to you closer to time, and see what all is left

Yes, Mandarins are easy to raise. We have had them for 3 years. My husband had 2 pair shipped here as a surpirse for our youngest daughter. One of our males died that first summer, we don't know why.

The first year they were just juveniles. The second year, last spring, one of the hens made a nest in the box and laid eggs. One day when checking on them because the hen was out of the box, we found 2 gigantic black rat snakes in the box and all the eggs were gone. A couple of weeks later, she laid another clutch but we didn't realize it. We moved our whole duck pen to a different area of the farm and when we moved that nest box and heard the eggs roll inside, we were just heartsick. If we had known, we would have waited to move it. I had looked in the next, but the eggs were so well covered, I didn't see them. That was it for that year.

Anyway, this year, she made a wonderful nest, sat on them faithfully and hatched out 6 ducklings. There are 6 more eggs in the next. If they aren't hatched by tomorrow, we will consider them no good.

The mandarins mate in pairs only. Our second female is picked on by the pair. We have them in a 10 X 10 dog kennel with a cover on it. They LOVE water and we give them a kiddie pool to swim in. They are very cold hardy, although we don't have much of that problem here in Arkansas. We did have the mandarins together with some white calls, but when breeding time came along, they males did fight. I think they would be fine together in a larger space. 10 X 10 was not enough, so we divided the pen. Hope this helps.

There are quite a few homeschoolers on here, myself included. I know what you mean about being busy, we're in the same 4h boat right now - too many projects!

Aren't your Mandarins "show quality", well they are hard to find, especially the hand raised ones and they are considered ornamental ducks too. Then the white calls that you have are the "pet quality" ducks, they are considered the "live stuffed duck toys", very well domesticated ducks. Consider writing these things to let those know who are not familiar with the breeds. Also I think you should contact Kings calls for some advice. You should mot have any problem selling them. Good Luck.
I'd still be there no matter what the price is
