When you go to you Mother's Day bbq at your mom's house and she tells you that she took pictures of "cool" chickens on her overseas adventure just because she knew you would appreciate them!

You Know you're addicted to raising Backyard Chickens when..

..before every garden action you take, there is expectation that a Chicken will be in the way!

You let one of your hens lay her eggs in the antique basket in your bedroom because she's having laying anxiety.

You have conversations with them in both human and chicken talk.

Your suburban neighbors have to stop their cars when your flock decides to cross the street, which of course, they all know is not allowed!

You buy beef bologna as a treat for them, which costs twice as much as any treat I've ever bought for my cats.

You're worried when they seem depressed.

Amen to every single one of these!!!

One I might add...

...when you happily go about your chores with a testosterone raging Showgirl rooster attached to your pantleg without fretting about it one bit...celebrate.gif

Lovin' Life to the FULLEST! I adore my little Silkies and Showgirls! 2 rescue swans, a tribe of guineas and numerous other rescued critters, including my Livestock Guardian, Tony Llama...YES! I live on a farm! Praising God daily!

HAHA, I've only had chicks for 4 weeks and I already find myself doing many of these things!

Before they even got here I was having chicken dreams and nightmares...nightmares where a box of hundreds of chicks show up at my door weeks earlier than expected (and I only ordered 4 so why hundreds, who knows) and I am unprepared and freaking out because I don't have a heat lamp for them or food.  And then there is a storm and my house is flooded up to the second floor so there I am with hundreds of baby chicks with no food or heat lamp and no way to get anything!  (I really had this nightmare, obviously!)  Haha, ugh!

I definitely look in every single backyard now and get excited when I see someone else has chickens...and I try to peep over their fence while I'm driving to see what kinds they have...

Spend way too much time on BYC  :)  And I am constantly looking at different types of chickens dreaming about what I will get next, even though I can't get any more right now.  (unless I build another coop....hmmm....haha)

All my co-workers think I am a crazy chicken lady because I can't stop talking about them.

And the biggest way I know I am obsessed with chickens....every second I am home all I want to do is sit in my spare room and stare at and talk to my baby chickies.  "Hi ladies, how ya doing today?  You're so pretty!"

They all have names and get to live in the back porch.

The sight of them pecking at fresh cat sick is a story you'll pass down the generations.

You know you're addicted to raising Backyard Chickens when...

... the girls join you for tea around the garden table, politely ask for cookie crumbs, and keep you company with stories of their day. I don't understand a word, of course, but they seem pleased with my nods and commiseration....
