Actually, I get it. It keeps us from making dumb choices as teens, and helps us to be more rational adults who can easier see through the clouds of infatuation. It also works because the purpose of dating is marriage, and I wouldn't be ready for marriage for several more years. And it makes it easier to just be friends.

I see your point. I hope my parents will let me date at like 14-15-16 area, 16 most preferred. But honestly, who knows if they will! See my dad & my mom had my sister when they were.... 17? Ya 17, and even if they dont know it, i know it. (that i know my mom was preg at 17) Buuuuut if they do know they might think that is a good lesson to be careful when dating, or be over protective.. Not sure tho....

oh that sucks that you can't date until your 18, like I guess I see the point if marriage is the sole purpose of dating for you, but I'd think that you'd want some experience in the dating world before marrying. I'm allowed to date already but I'm pretty sure the guy I like likes my friend. Also he's homeschooled so I never see him.

I totally know how you feel

yeah it totally sucks. Not to mention I only ever see him when I'm at one of my friends houses, but she's bff's with the girl he likes so she's always there and i never get to hang out with him without her there to get in the way.

On the subject of dating at a certain age:

I have been allowed to date since I was 10. However, no one wanted to date me until 4 years later. My mum has to meet whoever I'm dating before the first date, and if she doesn't like him, I can't date him. So far, that hasn't happened. Marriage is of little importance to me and my family. Some people want to remain virgins 'til marriage. I have no issues with that. However, I ain't like that. Yolo!
