Thanks. I am tempted now to go and get my kids crayons and color her in! LOL, HEY, I like to color!

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

Well folks even though I was hoping not to have a "special needs" SF out of the 2 hens and 1 roo I got from Myer hatchery a few weeks ago it seems as though God has another plan. When I came home from vacation on Friday I was surprised to see that I did in fact have a derpy chicken developing... a cross beaked SF pullet... She seems to be eating and growing well, and is just as sweet and feisty as can be, so I am hoping that she will continue to get along just fine. She is 3 weeks old today and just moved outside to the grow up brooder over the weekend. I will try to get pictures of her and her buddies later today... in the meantime please pray for my little funky chicken!

Nope not crazy... just lovin' me some chickens!

awwwww... you will be suprised how much she will love you back for helping her.   Derpy is love.... My special needs girl loves me more than any of my others. They know.  love.gif

I looked at all the caged animals in the barn...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. And I was angry."God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly, "I have done something," he replied.  "I created you."

I got a question... With the cross beak issue... At a lot of places, they debeak their birds, which I personally do not hold for, BUT, would debeaking  a cross beak help? I know that the beaks can grow back given time, but maybe then it would grow back straight? Just wondering...

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

Debeaking is icky.......and sometimes it does not grow back..
I have a scisssor beak serama hen. I have been filing her beak to help get a larger "grabbing" surface area for her to help with eating. She can eat now, a messy affair, but cannot pick up single pieces from the ground... sad.png
I file the high spots till pink [live tissue] shows and then wait for it to receed and file more. Trying to get rid of the "hook" look of the upper beak as that will help. It is a long process but I am hopeful it will be worth it..

Yeah, thats what Olive Hill just told me.... Said that it has to do with the skull more than likely, and not the beak itself. And that a deep dish for feeding would be all you'd really have to do...

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

As long as they can grab food and water they are OK, but need to keep a closer watch on them for weight loss.. smile.png
