california - CENTRAL COAST

Also in Arroyo Grande, I've had chickens/ducks for 8-9 years now. 4 chickens ( easter egger and 3 brown leghorns) and 5 ducks (cayuga).
Newish neighbor decided that they didn't like having poultry in the neighborhood. So the city of AG, which prides itself on the wild chickens running through the village, has said that they aren't legal here and I have 3 weeks to re-home them. They are aware that there are others in the neighborhood and as the neighbor pinpoints exactly which houses have them the will be making the same visit to those houses. They recommend a petition to keep the chickens but to honest I have no idea how to go about writing one. Is there anyone who can give me a hand or idea or?
Thanks in advance

Oh, and while I hope it won't be necessary thankfully I have found a home for my babies.

This infuriates me! I'm so sorry you have to deal with such an awful neighbor! https://www.municode.com/library/ca...6.32REDI_16.32.040USREREDI?searchText=Chicken I'm not seeing anything in the city ordinance that states chickens aren't allowed. There are certainly restrictions by lot size, but they are indeed allowed. I'm in rural AG and every person in this neighborhood has robust flocks of 10-25 chickens, roosters included. Good luck! I hope you give them hell and emphasize the health benefits of backyard flocks, and the resulting reduced spending for healthcare! Hope this helps!

@rkgjl ...

If you go to the main page of the forums section, you know, the page that lists all the threads by what their topics are, and scroll down about 1/4 to 1/3 of the page until you come across
a thread titled LOCAL CHICKEN LAWS AND ORDINENCES (AND HOW TO CHANGE THEM). There are some very knowledgeable people on that thread that will really help you out a lot.
Some have copies of their own town's newly implementd, city ordinances that they're only too happy to share while others will practically write one up for you if you just ask !!! Give them a try and good luck !!! Keep us updated on your progress please,

It's seemed that way to me too this year. But then again, it could just be that it's taking me longer to 'germinate' this year over last and not the seeds...lol !!! Every season I find I'm
planting a little less too. This year I didn't even plant any vegetables, just some flowers that I'm sure the wild critters will mess with, and if not, my domestic ones surely will. What
did you plant csaylorchickens? And all you others out there as well...?

Hello Central Coasters!
New chicken owner, already obsessed in Aptos, small town just south of Santa Cruz. I am the proud owner of

1 Rhode Island- Harper
1 Bard Rock- Posey (after Buster Posey, one of our favorite baseball players)
2 Buffs- Loli and Rosie
1 Denmark- Obie (named by my son who will never grow out of his StarWars phase)

I am realizing that in my effort to research how to best care for my new family members, I have come close to overwhelming myself.
Most of the forums I have searched in regards to what the best options are for my run (sand, pine shavings, etc) are posted/answered by those who live in areas with much more extreme weather. I would be interested in know what you use!
