CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

Thread Starter

I have to say that there may be some who don't think it's needed, but hey, TEXAS is a BIG OL STATE and they don't divid up. We can have the best of both worlds. We have regions and this one. I live in the Central Valley, but since I've only been here 2 1/2 years, I post most often on the Bay Area thread. It's the area I know the best since I lived there most of my life.

Please post any information on shows, and events and if you are a breeder, post your information as below and I'll add it to the list. Let's make this kind of a one stop shop for the whole state, while still being able to share information in the area threads.

I like the area threads. It helps to get to know people who are close by, but this is a big, LOOOONG state and we don't have a thread to bring all of us together.

I have posted all of the link to date, so you can all find your areas, but still use this one to meet others around the state.

Visit some of the  shows, meetups and chicken stocks and maybe make some friends along the way.

I try to keep all the info in this post updated. Let me know if you think something might work here or if you've posted information that has not been added.

I add names as everyone posts, so you can find California members right here in the first post. OK well, most are in California, but some will be from other states and have either moved from here, or have connections. No one is turned down unless there's a problem and I don't see that.

Breeds

* Blue Laced Red Wyandottes~ A Greg Catt lines rooster (pure Lowell Barber lines) x Foley, Paul, Blue Poultry, Braden hens~ Hatching 95% blue chicks. I have been working hard on these guys and I'm producing some gorgeous birds!

* Lavender/black Lav split Ameraucanas~ Shaffer and Paul Smith lines. Young birds just starting to lay.

* Wheaten and Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas~ Pips & Peeps wheaten rooster x Paul Smith hens. Young birds just starting to lay.

* Buff Ameraucanas~ Pips & Peeps wheaten rooster x Wayne Meredith buff hens. Chicks will be first generation outcross to improve egg color (they lay a green egg) and will need to be color culled (chicks will have partridge markings) then bred back to a buff rooster. This is a long term project. These can also be kept as beautiful EEs! Young birds that have been laying for a few months.

* Bantam Buff Laced Polish~ Not laying yet.

* Easter Eggers~ Mature birds that lay either blue or olive green eggs. Bred to my Pips & Peeps wheaten rooster so egg color on their offspring should be very pretty.

Hi Kim!  Yeah!  This has been a long time coming.  So happy to be able to connect with all my fellow Californians.  Yeah I know I'm in Reno now but that is a recent event and I lived my whole life in California minus a few short years!  So "Hi" everybody!   big_smile

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Some people are like Slinkies ... not really good for anything, but you can't help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

I've only been to Southern Cal a couple of times. Once for a sand bag, rained in weekend and once when I got us lost on the way to my dad's funeral last year. Other than that I've only been to the Long Beach Airport on stop overs to Vegas. LOL

I hope everyone takes this for what it is and finds it a place to connect and make friends. Seems I make more friends with people who don't live anywjere near California. LOL

Plus, for me this is kind of a way to figure out where things are. I can't tell you how many places I live near now that I thought were in Southern Cal. LOL

Who Knew??
