There are two of them, each 3 x 8, divided into four enclosures. I'll have about 20 quail in each section for now, but I'm only keeping about 20 as breeders, so I'll spread them out a little more after we butcher the rest.

Here are pictures from my December Hatch. I have one Marans and five EE's

This is blue. At six weeks old, the EE thread thought pullet. I now think Cockerel.

This is a picture of my White EE Cockerel and two of his sisters. He tried to crow this morning.

This is Maranda, Brown(yes the one with the blond head) and Chipmonk. Three Pullets(unless they crow later)

What kind of Marans is Maranda? they are 10 weeks old and she has feathers on her feet.

Enjoy!

Ron

Me too. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! They should give you the surgery for free if they goofed it up, but it never works that way does it.

I'd agree that the first EE is a cockerel. Those red shoulders are a giveaway.
I lost my whole flock due to poor biosecurity. Read about it here: Infectious Laryngotracheitis, and learn from my mistakes so it doesn't happen to you.

Got to the hospital friday at 3:30 and this hospital is IDK how to even explain it. I got seen at 11pm. They couldn't or didn't bother to find my surgery orders so I sat in the ER all that time. They did new xrays so I carried all those around all day and night. Finally a surgeon comes in at 11:30 and says I need surgery. DUH!!

So they needed to admit me and do surgery yesterday morning. I was last on the list which ok I was hella late, so that was my fault. A tech who know I hadn't eaten or had anything to drink since 8pm thursday ran and got me a sandwich and juice since no drinking after midnight. OK I've had surgery before and midnight makes since so why was I told thursday that nothing after 8pm? No biggie again, I'll deal with that.

They take me to the back and since I've had several strokes, I get MORE xrays, chest this time. My strokes were brain hemoraging, not heart related.

Later a nurse takes me to my room, but even after I say I want to hold onto my xrays (I put all my reciepts and other info in with them, she leaves them at the desk and says They'll get them to me when I go home.

Get in my room and tucked in and watch TV till I fall asleep.

Next moring I get preped and I let them know what meds have which affect and I get morphine which I makes me sick to my stomach for days, but they gave me a very small dose. I'm just now able to sit here off and on to typse this. Sooo dizzy and I've been home since 5m last night.

Oh and no surgery!!!!! This is the unbelieveable part!

Heliocopters started coming in like every maybe 15 minutes or less. There was a crane accident somewhere and someone even fell off the top of it. I have no idea how they are, but I hope they are alright. But they flew at least 3 or 4 in. Too many traumas to deal with my wrist. They acted like I was going to be mad about it or something and kept telling me that they HAD to take care of the traumas first.

NO S*** SHERLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill spent most of his surgical career in TRAUMA! I understood from the get go and didn't complain once. Disappointed and sick to my stomach about yet another hospital bill due  to going back, yes, but I didn't say  thing!

So they come to my room. Give me a surgeons name and an appointment for monday at 10am. It has a number, but no one could locate the address. So I need to see him tomorrow morning and the they have me scheduled for surgery AGAIN for tuesday morning. I have no xrays. no idea where I'm going, STILL dealing with morphine I haven't been on since 4:00 yesterday and I'm such a ditz I can't explain most of what I was told, because of the  morphine, like I'm not already confused all the time and I'll probably never get this right and now owe another fortune in hospital bills. I'm never going to have a life! Oh and still have 2 daughters out of town on work this week, SIL works out of town during the week another daughter having outpatient surgery. Here I  GO AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

Let me know if I need to edit any bad words. I know they were in my head, but don't see any.

Welcome to debs_flock and Akpheng! I added you to the first post.

Anyone check this out? I was told ALL birds were destroyed and this person has only 1 post and it's on this thread. I don't want to report someone legit, but too dizzy to check it out.

Hello All,

The Animal Legal Defense Fund is looking for people to adopt the survivors from the A&L Poultry farm, Turlock, CA tragedy. About 2,000 birds are healthy enough to be rescued and homes are now needed.

They are monitoring the case and are considering their legal options to ensure justice for the tens of thousands of birds who suffered a horrific death in this shocking case of cruelty.  (There was an estimated 50,000 chickens found starving after they were left without feed for over two weeks.)

If you can support the ALDF in their mission, please visit their Animal Place's adoption page, if you can help.

http://animalplace.org/adoptable_birds.html

Thank you for your time and support,

for the animals,

Elisa

Kim, I think one of your kids should take off work to care for you.

I'm familiar with Animal Place. It's a shelter for animals run by PETA. It looks like they do have some of the hens.

If I can manage to get it done, I'm going to drop some roos off at the auction before my appointments in the morning. I need to find another black AM roo, that's as nice as Clyde was for breeding back to my blues and lavs this year. I have my Davis cockerel out with the rest now and I'm going to put him over just my Davis hens when I can get things set up after this wrist thing.  I need to go through and see what I need and don't need out there. I need at least 2 black tail buff Jap hens. OH I got my first Mottled Jap egg!!!! Need to build more secure rabbit cages. I've rigged these up so much and still have escapees, so need something else. Trying to come up with a list so I can just get things done and hopefully less work once I'm done.

My husband is finally making my quail coops this weekend. They're turning out to be more like quail fortresses. They won't be done until Monday or Tuesday, when he gets the roofing material from his dad's house, but they're coming along nicely. We decided to wall them in with hardware cloth after all, as the green garden fence stuff I got was just too flexible and I was worried about predators breaking in. The hutches will be near my dog run, so until he dies, coons won't be much of a problem, but he's getting old.
