Thanks, good to know. Can't wait to hear what Walt has to say. I've only hatched once so very limited experience but I remember they spanned over three days. Maybe I'll have to start looking closer to fertility, but when I was diligent to check, I rarely found one infertile. We'll have to see when this hatch is over if they were quitters.....if Sunny does eggtopsy. I know I didn't, I just had my husband go in and take the unhatched eggs and dispose of them. I didn't have the guts to crack them open. hide.gif

But so far you haven't gotten ANY EE's to hatch, the two, non Polish that hatched were from my "brown egg laying chickens" from the feed store (I believe she buys her chicks from MacMurray) I don't get it! idunno.gif

We pushed hatching out the Polish since they'd only been laying a few months but yet got a pretty good hatch rate from them. You only started with 11 of those right?

One more thing, when I hatched EE's last year, they did hatch over 3 days. I set 20 eggs that had been in the refrigerator and some up to 2 weeks old, because I wasn't planning on hatching them until I lost my whole flock....and I got 14 to hatch! If I recall I got 7 the first day, 5 the second day and 2 on day 23 so you're probably not done. I can't imagine out of all those eggs you'd only get 9!

I'd like to hear from those who have EE or Ameracauna hatching experience and see if there's something we're missing. So Sunny, they're quitters right? Because I have rarely cracked open one from Big Daddy's girls that wasn't fertile.

So seven Polish celebrate.gifLast I heard you had a Black and Yellow (which I think should be a splash), anything crested yet?

Nope I don't do eggtopsies but these bebies have plenty of time yet.   I'm a little superstitious about putting a negative thought out there this early.

OK baby pics and count update.  We now have 14 babies out and one more pipped.  The one from the green egg that I said was pipped is out and another from one of the more blue eggs is also out.  Another of the blue eggs has pipped!     pop.gif

These are the first 9 babies.  They are all dry and have been out long enough I felt ok about them letting them pose for a pic.  I know I am over protective.  Can't help it.  Anyway...  TADA!!!

Pams chicks.jpg

The two yellow ones in the middle are EEs and the rest are Polish.  Now the baby second from the left, doesn't he look awfully chocolate colored to you?     love.gif

No, I could not resist the eggs this close to Easter.  Here's a close up of the chocolate chick.
