You guys got me thinking about how to fix my humidity issue. I found someone local that has a reptile fogger I am going to pick up... reason being the others seem to require CLEAN water and I can't ensure the water is clean much less filtered. the reptile fogger people use in water bowls and things they swim in. I saw a guy that used a cat litter bucket.... thought hum... I have HUNDREDS (not really) of those. So the guy used the fogger in the bucket and put a computer fan on the top to pull the fog out.... not sure that would work long term (can't be good on the electrical stuff in the fan). I do have a personal fan like the one you would set on your desk. Should I just put a hole on the side and BLOW the fog out? or does someone have a better idea?
I can't mock anything up but picture a litter bucket with a top (to keep debris out). I want at least 2 gallons of water so I would cut the hole for the fan about 2/3 of the say up on one side.... so how do I get the fog OUT? Small holes about an inch all around or one window on the opposite side? I will post a pic of what I am working with to humidify for hatching. Water and heat is in the bottom.
I really like the foggers in the incubator that I just was using had two 1.5 inch holes in the bater. One in the bottom and the other on the top. With the fogger, I could make the humidity rise easly if when wanted. I am thinking that all you need is some air to move over the water to get the fog out. I am not sure you will need a large bucket but we all experiment and have fun with it. Good luck.
I am going to play with it and see. Fans are going to be easy. I use them to try to evaporate the water and move it and the heat UP. Now that I have a fogger and read the instructions... I need to find a way to keep adding water as the water level can't be above about 2 inches. I am thinking a drip system to add water. I have a 5 gal bucket with a plastic tube but it was not air tight and didn't work for a gravity system BUT if I can get a drip fitting for the pipe or adapters I can adjust my water drip to match the evaporation of the fogger. I see some science experiments in my future. We will see.........
