Karen, I think those are turkey eggs, at least they look the same shape as my turkey eggs though the speckles are a little differnet thatn my BR turkeys. 

Need turkeys???  We're starting a turkey hatcha thon on SUNDAY, that's Easter SUnday. THese eggs take a week longer to hatch.

HI Peeps!

Yes, the speckled eggs are Chocolate turkeys (the have darker speckles) and Midget White turkeys (the lighter ones).  I needed turkeys!  In fact, these were purchased from someone I met by ready ther personal info, and they listed the turkeys they had.  I've had chocolates before, and we ate them, and I wanted more!  (They were excellent!)  I'm also interested in the midgets, so I'm giving them a whirl.  So far, the smaller midgets are more fertile than chocolates have ever been.  They are sweet, the Chocs, but the larger the bird, the lower the fertility.
 

Heres my three silkies.  I ordered special show quality eggs, for B/B/S, and only 4 of 12 made embryos, and the three that made it to hatch day are here.  It looks to me like I have a black, and blue, and a silver.  Any thoughts?

Narri are on my want list too.  I will experiment with a few breeds and see how the work for me.  I have notice since separating the extra males from the hens life is much calmer. For me!

Do the midgets have more breast meat, for their size, compared to other turkeys?  I'm on a quest to better understand each different breed of turkey!

well, hubby says no to turkeys (for now). but if i could find the wild gobblers' nests, i'd hatch what i could steal. LOL we've got 2 separate flocks right now, one uphill one downhill and they egg each other on all day gobbling back and forth.

Good luck finding a nest!! These are big birds and I wouldn't want to meet up with a protective mother! 

Turkeys are interesting. Not as smart as chickens, IMO, but bring a different element to farm life. THey follow me EVERYWHERE!  It can be annoying to manouver a wheelbarrow thru 4 young toms who are slow to move, especially when I'm in a hurry! LOL THese I hatched from a pair of BR. Sweet birds-easy to incubate, just a week longer. And included a few chicken eggs from my favorite hen. (Helps the poults thrive .) 

I have a BBW defrosting, A very easy bird to raise. THen load into the back of my car ( seats fold down) and off to the butcher then into the freezer. THese MUST be butchered and not kept, so may be a good place to start.

My  DH is warming up to the birds, even the ducks. ( He was a wildlife major in college.) 

On another note, my incubator is acting up. Actually as a homemade one I get to deal with the impact of every change I make. I worked carefully to adjust the temps, over a couple of weeks actually. Added in the basket and liner and the temps are not coming back up!  I had to move the eggs in for hatching, and I have been closely monitoring the temps and adjusting.

That is one thing I love about the digital thermostat.  I don't have to keep adjusting it.  I have noticed that as it got warmer here the humidity in the Mega Bator has gone up.  I just took the water out and it has only dropped to 31% Might have to run a dehumidifier in the summer.  I am liking the warm weather brooding, MUCH easier.

My cat unplugged one of my bators today!   I have 6 goslings all primed and ready to hatch in the next 72 hours, and that was an uncool discovery.  It was only down to 94 for maybe a few hours, but you know how it is.......
