All but 3 doz were mine but we did a trade.  I can hatch that many easy every week... NEED SOME EGGS?  LOL

I hatched

RIR

Leghorns

Leghorn x Am crosses (Super Blue Egg Layers)

Blue and Black Copper Marans

EE

Olive Eggers

One lonely little Lav Split Am

Blue Rocks

BLACK ROCK clap.gif

Reg and Blue Barred Rocks

MF d'Uccles

I think that is it!

I think I ended up with 110+ I tossed 49 eggs that didn't hatch.  I left some just in case.  BUT I didn't need any more.  I have a hand full that have leg problems I will give them a couple of days.

Thanks for the good wishes... I think I will advertise on CL for the trade day to get a good crowd.  I am going to take the other chicks that are older too, if they don't sell as day olds they seem to be harder to sell.  Maybe at the trade day people will want the ones that are not needing heat wink.png Plus some I know are pullet now too.....

i've found that i sell 3-4 week olds way easier than i do day to week olds.  my babies that needed heat, lots of people commented they didn't want them that young because they were more work than the older ones.  then again, i'm not asking a lot for mine, as i'm selling mostly the culls.

sold 3 EE cockerels for $20. not bad. wink.png  i've sold ALL my chickens i take. but nobody wants the quail...  go figure.

Hi guys!

I'm new to incubating, just got my Hova-Bator yesterday.

I wanted Cochins because I wanted broody hens, so I bought a young pair. The hen had been in with a different roo before being shipped to me, and I LIKE him, so I wanted to hatch her eggs. I couldn't expect her to go broody right away, so I bought an incubator.. but then, I needed more eggs to put into it (you can't incubate just a handful of eggs.. that wouldn't be right!) so I started bidding on eggs.... and bidding... someone stop me! I won almost all of the auctions. My incubator says it will hold 50 eggs, I have 52 coming, plus sounds like most people send extras, plus whatever my hen gives me!

I'm not sure what I'll do with the extra eggs. Guess I'll figure that out.. If I buy another incubator I'll have to put it in a different room, I have this one here in my computer room and another one would be too cramped..

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi! frow.gif

Yes, I'm addicted. So far this year, I've hatched:

9 olive eggers/cuckoo marans.

about 150 ameraucanas, plus another 2 dozen due to hatch tomorrow

5 splash marans, with more eggs on the way

Still in the bator:

12 silkie eggs

40 runner duck eggs (this is where I realized I'm addicted) I don't especially like runner ducks.

Blue & Splash Ameraucanas

Salmon Faverolles

Cuckoo, Blue Copper & Black Copper Marans

Blue Swedish Ducks

Muscovies with a death wish

English Shepherds

I just put in about 26 eggs in my bator.

9 australorps well guessing that is what they are sense they were dropped off at our rescue at the end of winter and dear ol hubby did not bother to ask the lady who dropped them off what breed they are lol.  She also dropped off a Bronze Breasted and his Mate still waiting for them to lay eggs.

9 from my mixed pen that consists of EE's, white EE's, and a hen was thinking was an EE as well but she has some really pretty blue feather at the back end near the base of her tail feathers. No clue what she is either or 2 of the roosters. I need to see if I have pics of who I am talking about and post them here so you can see.

6 banty eggs, she is in with the Australorps

And managed to get 1 buff egg in there that was laid while I was putting in the other eggs and my youngest was feeding them for the night.

So we will see what happens.  I have never incubated in a full size bator before that actually turns the eggs LOL Nice not having to run out and do it 3 times a day.

I am going to do  search close to home for someone who has some Olive Egger eggs for sale or even a trade. Miss my olive eggs and hens.

this is one in question.  And I saw a pic of a Jersey Giant today looking at some other breeds I might get and they look alot like those as well.  Here is an Egg I got from them....

Australorp dark brown egg.jpg these are the nice brown eggs that I am getting from them.

I am not able to find the pic of the hen in question I will have to get another pic of her. I know its on my computer Just not able to find out where it is. LOL

That looks like my Australorps, and their eggs.  I think Jerseys lay white.  My black Australorps were fabulous layers, and always big dark eggs.  Can you weigh a hen or rooster?  There is a weight difference between Aust's and Jers's.

Why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

Why is there brail at drive up ATMs??

Why are their floatation devices instead of parachutes in my airplain seat???

If a tree falls in the woods and my husband doesn't hear it, am I still wrong????

Hello fellow hatchers.  frow.gif

ITs so nice to come here and stop feeling like a hatch weirdo.  I've got 3 bators going, and a variety of eggs in, arriving, and anticipated soon.  I just hatched out sebastopol geese, silkies, and pheasents.  I've got some pure Americauna,  Blue Belgians D'Anvers, muscovey ducks, Khaki Kampbell Ducks, button quail, and more goose eggs cooking now, with Black Copper Marans, Buff Dewlap Toulouse, and Blue Belgian D'Anvers en route and expected today and tomarrow.

I guess this means I'd better count my spaces up before I go back to eBay, huh?  gig.gif

ANother possible though remote idea:

Could these be a marans?? Marans eggs are easily scratched removing the dark paint leaving a pale brown.

I have a question.. While I'm waiting on my shipped eggs I'm storing my eggs from my little hen in my cool laundry room. I have 2 now :)

I candled both tonight.. the one that was laid on monday I didn't really see anything in it, the one laid today has a definite "dot" that floats around. I didn't see an air sack in either egg.

Is this normal?

I want to go wash my hands and candle them again. Am I going to become a candling addict now? th.gif
