Thanks for the ideas. I had made a thread of sites last summer for everyone to use, so I just pull that up and  select from there.  My PC is always asking to compact info, not sure how much pace I have left in this dinosaur.  A computer guru put in a bigger something to improve the memory , but my system is 11 years old.

If you don't want to get another computer, or even if you are going to get another computer, you could get an external hard drive with much more space and even start moving some of the information by folder over to it now before you have computer problems.  It just attaches to your computer and will increase the space.  I have one that I put everything on now because my computer hd is half full.  After it is half full you start having a few glitches usually.  I am sorry this is off topic but thought it might help you.

Thank you-- I keep my hatching info on file. Esp band colors=breed. Can't remember it all!

and here i sit with 2 fully rebuilt and installed machines looking for a home...  pm me if you're interested i can ask hubby for specs and prices... they're not new but probably newer than you have. i know one is a dual core 2.6. it's the one i upgraded from.

and on the icky egg thing, i've got more odor coming out. from an incubator that had no odor prior to moving the rest of the eggs up to it. the questionable one is gone, and i can't see which one(s) are suspect now. so i split them up and put half back below and the other half stay in top. so if the odor moves (or doesn't) at least i'll have narrowed it down that much.  i have moving eggs like that, but would rather not chance ALL the eggs for a couple possibly bad.  if the odor doesn't move then they can go back up top and the others will go below. then i'll see if that was it. and if not then it's probably just lingering 'egg farts'.

Dorkings and bantam Cochins mostly, with a few others here and there.

And of course, my wonderful Hubby, who puts up with me and keeps me in check when I start to get crazy.

Then I really think you need a back up.  It is so upsetting to lose information like that.  I know.  I have lost pictures I can't replace and it made me sick.

Interesting.  I have yet to have a smell in the incubator fl.gif  But I have had some really bad eggs come out after the hatch is done.  Or maybe my smeller isn't as good as it should be.tongue.gif

Hello, my name is Sharon...I am an incubating addict! Just started, but can't stop...looking around my property to see where coops and runs can go! I have 16 babies in the house and 22 eggs in the bator and planning my next set! And now I really want Silkies...lots of them! So I might have to start with the auctions! I found 4 polish crested chickens on CL so they are in their own coop and I want to start hatching them too! 3 hens and a rooster! and they were free! So far my boyfriend is my enabler! And I love this thread! Nice to know I'm in good company!

2 grown sons(well as grown as boys get) 1 dog 6 cats 2 horses and chickens! last year I got addicted to incubating eggs..had to sell a lot of chicks! Dow to a workable number now!

Thought I was done for the season. I have hatched out 44 chickens so far plus I have 8 baby turkeys. Then my Light Brahma hen went broody so I needed to find something for her to hatch. It was the right thing to do. So now I have 6 Maran eggs under her cooking away and my husband is shaking his head thinking I'm crazy again lol.

How is everyone else doing with their hatches?

Light Brahma, Cochin, Gold Comet, Delaware, Silver Gray Dorking. Arabian, Doberman, Farm Cat, Teenage boy, and loving husband.

I just discovered these great things like the crazy egg chain and egg swaps...very dangerous. I now have 8 duccles in the bator that my wife had to have and just got 12 guinea eggs in the mail today. On top of that I have 30 barred rock in there, 12 unknown amish eggs, and 55 of my own del x hamps. Then I have 25 delaware chicks coming tomorrow as well as 100 cx broilers and 5 rir cockerals, and 5 black aussie cockerals (for sex-links) coming on thursday. I think I may be nuts!

Layers, ,meaties, goats, kids, and a great wife...life is great.

Hatchery permit/npip certification under way....inspector will be coming any day now!

5 silver greys due wed, one is zipping right now, then i've got...  um.  a lot. fbcm, wellies, cuckoo marans, olive eggers and bbs ameraucanas. oh and black & self blue (i hope) cochins and a couple mille cochins due. all on the 30th. somewhere around...30 or so eggs? my brain refuses to remember the exact numbers. oh and a few more silver grey dorkings.

then i've got more black/self blue and black/blue partridge/mille cochins due on the 4th of june, and 20 quail due... sometime after that. i just set them yesterday.

smelling funky odors still, now in both incubators, so at this point i'm just going to let them keep cooking and see what happens. (clothespin for the nose is ready if needed).
