Got my brinsea Mini Eco

 back , I ran it for 24 hours it held steady at 99.2 thats fine with me. They didnt send back the little cover of the water well though. Should I call them and tell them that?

Anyways decided to put my new quail eggs in there. I got a swap for a dozen and was sent 14 they all survived with no cracks or leaking

Ok.... I don't do quail eggs but those look really dirty.... I know they have spots, but that looks like mud and poop.....

OK HELP me...... I have a humidity problem.  The RH is very high here and I had a major malfunction of the turner and had to open the bator over night to make the repair and now the humidity is in the 50%.  I had a dehumidifier running all night and pulled about 2 gal of water out but the humidity is still not dropping in the bator.

Silica packs.... if I can find some.... anything I can do?  This is a HUGE bator 5 x 4.5 x 3 FEET HUGE.  I think with the turner going out for days and me not knowing AND the humidity spike I may have lost this hatch.....

Don't throw in the towel yet.  Did you get your turner going again?  Empty all water trays and wait.  I have forgotten to turn my bator back on after turning eggs for 9 hours and everything still did well.

I AM AN ADDICT too.

Bought 11 chickens as babies  last spring...have sold 3 so not too bad until i lost 2 batches of shipped eggs one June one July   6-8 eggs in each, got mad last week after the only chick trying to hatch died...

 and ordered 50  (count um 50 ) eggs!!! Not counting any extras i get.(Already got 3)

And a new incubator

So now i am Officially( if i wasnt  before) a TOTAL CHICKEN LOVIN  ADDICT.

Yes got the turner running put the eggs in the hatcher and manually turned them for a day and a half.  I think the turner was out for several days.  They are still in the incubator.  NO water, has not had water added to it since I put them in 12 days ago.  It usually hangs at about 35% without water.  I only add it really to add oxine to keep bacteria down.   I will not give up till they don't hatch.  What have I got to lose?    I have had good hatches after major issues too so I never would just toss them.  The temp has been right

try rice, that soaks up the moisture and you can put in trays of it, pull out the used and put it in the oven to dry down again and reuse. 

THere must be ventilation for that incubator, eventually the room ir must be pulled into the incubator. I think it is worth running the dehumidifier or A/C as both dry the air. I am running the dehumidifier these days.

also search BYC  for more ideas. One woman suggested I increase the ventilation rate. ANd that worked for me.

I will try to come up with something.  The dehumidifier is OLD and it was a really hot in the shop when we got to the farm.  So I turned it off as the RH had not changed.  I kept the AC on but again it is OLD and not really cooling but putting out a lot of water.  I need to move it.  If this hatch is lost when I check them over the weekend..... I may move it since it will be empty.  Hubby has given me his bigger shop area since I have really out grown the little shop.  One BIG issue is that is our way in and out.  The main door to the outside and to the big shop.  Very hard to control anything in this heat with us going in and out all day.   I may move it either way.  That would be a project I didn't have on the books.  I can shut the bigger area off and run the dehumidifier or a better AC to help. 

RICE Great Idea!  I can just take them out side to cook LOL  I don't think it will take much.  Once it gets down I think it will stay down.  I don't get in there much.  I think if I increase the ventilation it will get worse.  It is like 80% RH here right now.

Rice is a great idea.  I have it in my salt shakers that go outside.  it works great!
