A lot of of do this very thing the pelts form Fl are not worth much but there is a pretty good "meat market" down that way most trappers who capture them sell them for meat $5-10 per carcass

I hate those nasty buggers.  Doesen't help that they actually are pretty smart.  Tough to get rid of-they will keep coming back once they find a opportunity to get what they want.  Good luck!

Try a Dog Proof Raccoon Trap . It works by the raccoon putting his hand down a tube to get the bait and it catches him. This trap works great because to will not trap anyone elses animals (dogs, cats, etc).

They are the last resort on really smart raccoon that will not go in a cage trap.

I tie the bait to the back of the trap so they can't pull it out. I also cover the trap with a old  piece of carpet and put the trap behind the hay barn or in a quiet spot.
I caught three Raccoons last week, all sizes. When they knew there was bait in the trap they concentrated on getting it and left the chickens alone. They can't get at the chickens at night unless one has decided to roost in a tree.
I had trouble catching one big Raccoon he kept tripping the door. When I sandwiched the trap so it couldn't move that night I got him.
Best bait so far........eggs.

A friend of mine has Livestock Guardian Dogs and they patrol the chicken run at night. she never locks her chickens up. The dogs keep them away.
If the dogs get a Mink they rip it in half.......ep

There are probably about 2,000 raccoons in your immediate area, if you want to try capturing them one at a time, go ahead.  My solution is easier and teaches them to stay away.

I wrapped my coop in electric tape.  Also, 'coons are smart, so they just reached under the tape to grab my birds, so I placed 1X6 boards around the bottom, forcing the coons into the electic tape.  I see no signs of raccoons now (I have a camera trap).

electric fence + charger is about $100
boards were about $30.

Good Luck.  Raccoons are like terminators, they don't give up and they come back smarter and smarter.

13 Chickens, 2 ducks, 4 guineas, 3 dogs, 2 cats.  And I am probably feeding the local deer, turkeys and racoons.

At the end of the day. I think the previous poster is right. If you have that many coming in, an electric fence is going to be the best answer. Just make sure you dont have a tree hanging over your coop/pen. Raccoons will climb the tree and jump down in your pen.

Good Luck.
