Guinea with Broke Leg

Excellent news! Most Guineas know how to baby themselves til they heal, so hopefully he doesn't get picked on or trampled by the others and he can heal up the rest of the way.
Congrats on your success with him so far!

My guinea Hoppie is still doing good. He's putting a little more weight on the leg than just a few days ago.

Maybe now we should call him "Limpy" instead of Hoppie.

Birds with broken legs can actually heal themselves if allowed, The broken ends of bone send out calcium strings that will pull the bone back together and knit it place. If you splint it to tight the leg will fall off. If the bird is disturbed too much the healing may be hampered to the point that the broken ends just cap themselves and never knit, Actually a one legged bird can learn to do pretty well, hard to land on a perch though.

How did you splint your guinea's leg? Ours is injured but we couldn't figure out how to do it so she could still like down and it would help immobilize the hock.
