When I first got it brought up, it had a lovely rich background. I wanted to look at it more, but then I realized that the print was too light to see over the background... and then~ The background changed to almost black.
If you can let some more of the richness of the background come through, it might be nice. As it is, you know something is back there, but it is more distracting than interesting.
But that is just my opinion and I do not blog, I just have some background in design.

Yep. And he said that before fire ants took over.

Thank you Annie I really appreciate it!

3goodeggs - Thank you for the critique. Should I try a more transparent background so that the "old travel" theme is show-cased? Which style of text is best? Should I go larger?

Thank you everyone!

Every time I log on it seems different. Maybe you are working on it as I am looking at it?
I really like the background and if the black was a tad more transparent it would be good, but don't let the letters fade out.
I will look back at it later.
I have always enjoyed your posts, even from when I first joined. I read whatever you write. South Africa is interesting... and, you have chickens!
maybe the black sections could be lightened. I want to look at the background, but I have to scroll up past the black bit to see it. I think the colors are rich and inviting. But I am not a pink and butterfly kind of person, so others may not agree. What is your target audience? Chicken people, friends or,..?

Looks good so far! :thumbsupSounds interesting, too. I may have to subscribe!
It might be a good idea to not use an image as your blog's back ground (in general, blogs load more quickly when they don't have many large pictures), but if you like it, keep it. You have to like your blog if you want to enjoy blogging. old
Getting an audience is simple. Just write about topics you love, and people will find you. Plus this BYC topic will help.
Topics to avoid: Unless you don't mind debating, avoid religion and politics like the plague. They get heated very easily.

My first taste of the internet was blogging. Trust me. tongue

The awesomeness of a movie can, under normal circumstances, be easily calculated by counting the number of cars destroyed and multiplying that figure by the number of witty comebacks issued by major characters. The Avengers is a very high ranking movie on this scale.

"Harrison Ford is the President of the United States" is the perfect movie tagline.

Thank you Dancing hen and Amri.

3goodeggs - Yes I was working on it while you were probably viewing. I have changed it drastically, though I am thinking of going back to the antique theme. I was thinking of trying new patterns and experimenting. Blogspot has been giving me troubles with my changing of the background with the antique theme and I guess I should accept it that way. smile The new theme seems to be more color specific, though this can vary from each person. Thank you, I am quite pleased that my writing has provoked interest. At the moment I am still chicken-less due to our move and now that my mother is refusing chickens in her backyard. We should move soon so it might change.

Thanks everyone!

Amri, how are you?
