Has anyone used adapters that plug into your electrical outlets to get your network signal outside the house? They seem to be something rather new. You plug one in the wall next to your router and then plug a network cable from the router to the plugged in adapter. Then you plug another one any where in the house (or outlet on house circuit -like a coop wired from the house) and your computer (or camera) into it with another network cable. It's suppose to work the same as if you have ran network cable all over the house -only it's using the existing wiring in the house. I'm thinking if this works - it's a great way to eliminate the problem of getting a wifi signal out to the coop. Since the coop runs on the same circuit as the house and since the IP cameras have a network slot on them --- it's like plug and play network wise.... No need for network boosters, relays, mesh networks.... I have a couple ordered. Can't wait to plug it in the coop to see if the video stream improves. Since I have a 50M Internet connection - the coop should see the same connection speed.

There is two lines that come in to your house. Usually half your house uses one an the other half uses the other. 220V plugs use both. Those adapters have to be both plugged in to the same line so you may have to try a few home plugs till it works.

The reviews on the ones I ordered rave about this brand working across both lines. The reviews said the folks had used other brands and found that to be true (working only on 1 line) and how delighted they were that these work anywhere. I ordered ZyXEL PLA407 HomePlug AV. They will come in a few days. And I will report. If they work across both lines I would think this a solution to cams out on the property. Unles a person put in a separate meter for farm out buildings. One reviews aid he plugged 1 in his camper parked 50 ft from his house and got the same download speed as inside which was the Mbps that he was paying for from ISP. We'll know in a few days.....
