Most people on here recommend keeping them in pairs, but I have heard of people having success keeping small colonies of all male or all female and even one male with 2-4 females with no problem at all. Buttons are supposedly monogamous, but from the stories I've heard I would say that's not entirely true as I've spoken with someone who had a male with two females in an avairy and both had clutches at the same time from the same male, so....I suppose it depends on how much space you have. In a small cage, the females may be likely to fight with each, but if you have a large enough avairy space? Maybe... smile

I plan on only keeping a pair.  Just waiting to see what is what in these 8..and, would like to see how the colors turn out too.  I have someone that wants the rest.

E-Bay!   And I do believe they have more.  My husband was very pleased with how it was so sturdy. He's picky, because he usually builds things for me, but I didn't want a wood cage..sooo....

Then, the baby that I thought had silver going down it's back, has black now.  Very black feathers coming in the top area between the wings and body.  The one sitting on the leaf.  http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd463/CynthiaWor/007-3.jpg
Ok, I need some ideas for nesting boxes in the future, and more little hiding places around the sides..they seem to like the sides..I need to get another empty paper roll or two in there for now.

lets see it looks to me like you have 4 white birds either a silver or perhapes a splashed and 3 normal red/blue breasted im still a little new to idetifiying them though!

Button quail should be kept in pairs but in a large setting a few pairs can coexist. What happens is that they pick a territory to live in  and if another pair tries to cross, the pair residing their shoos them away.

I have a couple retired pairs at a Butterfly estates/aviary and they do fine. The owner notices the same behavior I describe.
