We had a moving party, years ago, and got lots of help, and when we bought our second coop last year, we had a sort-of party to help dismantle it at the previous site, and then another to assist with putting the walls and roof up.  We got a good response.  You should try it.  Just offer up some good food and drink, and most likely you will get lots of help.

Married to DH for 21 years, DS 18,  mom of golden retrievers--Harley and Mia, and my 17 girls--Barred Rocks, a Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Reds, Easter Eggers, a Gold Laced Wyandotte, a Silver Laced Wyandotte, Delawares, Cuckoo Marans, a Black Australorp, and Twiggy---our Welsummer, who laid the prettiest eggs ever, but left for chickie heaven today, where they never, ever run out of raisins.

[[[[[.......I tried to have a coop raising party but everyone thought I was joking, or something......]]]]

Barn raisings aren't "all about me".  It's mutual help to get work done for everyone.  You help build their barn, they help to build your barn.

The way you have a coop raising party is that they help you work and then you go and help them work. If they don't need a coop, maybe they need a fence built, or their house painted.

You don't just get your friends over to do your work for you without your doing something equally valuable for them.

Funny!!!  love it!  I think it would be fun to have a coop raising party.  Definitely provide the cookout and liquid 'refreshment'.  Then be sure you offer to help them with a big project that they are dreading doing alone!  big_smile

Only when the last tree is cut, the last river damed, the last field paved, will we then realize that we can't eat money.

Ditto this!  But don't let them have any beer until you've finished whatever you'd hoped to accomplish for the day (words of wisdom from someone who watched a 2-hour grill assembly project turn into a call to Papa John's...)

10-4... I had a painting party one time and let's just say that IF I ever do that again, libations will be served AFTER the house is painted!
