Yeah, just love these city folks who think, "Now I've moved to the country, my dog can run free!!!" I have had to "shoot, shovel, and shut up" several times. We had a closed cage of twenty chicks wiped out in one hour by a husky who was clever enough to open the latch. Large dog pack also attacked our pony and ripped her ear. The ringleader, a Rott with no collar, met me and a shotgun, and got dragged off into the south 40. Guess what? the others didn't come back (I think the owners learned, not the dogs). But we have had more trouble from coons and barred owls, much harder to fence in the girls from them. Some taut shiny wire strung criss-crossed over the open part of the chicken run discouraged the owls and hawks. I got the idea from a resort in FL with wire strung up over the pool area - a singe wire - and they told us it deterred seagulls from landing in the pool.
