for under $100? living in central MN. it gets and stays cold in the winter here. And I hear some don't work so good below freezing. If you could post some pics from your game cams that would be a great help. Thanks all.

I have a PrimosTruth Cam 35, it was $99 I think. It works great, I have caught a number of creatures looking the dark.. and light. It has an infared flash, and lists the temperature, time, and moon phase. It isn't to great on batteries, maybe two to three weeks of continual use, but the pictures are good. Here are some pictures I have from mine, on the computer I'm using;

Here is a scrawny looking raccoon

Here is a few pics from my cams. I live in WI. and I know all about the cold weather. A few downfalls to a cam that is under $100 bucks can be, not long battaery life and trigger speed on getting a decent photo of the whole animal. I use them for hunting in NW WI.
This first photos were takin with a Moultrie I-40 older model. Last year when it was very cold.

Hope this may help. Moultrie has great custamor service. I had trouble with a couple cameras last year and sent them back. They sent me two new cameras and didn't have to wait very long.
Edited to say these cameras are not all that expensive compared to some. The I-40 doesn't have real fast trigger speed. I-80 has better trigger speed but is a little more pricey. The cuddeback has great trigger speed but is a little pricey also. They can be found on sale from time to time for just over 100 bucks.

thanks for the info. my biggest worry is theft. I'm trying to find out what is coming in to my woods at night.We have some salt licks out for deer but think the coyotes are scaring them away.

I had a problem with coyotes last year and noticed when I did see deer they were in bunches. Up north where some of the pics came from the wolves are so bad that nothing can be seen with any consistency. Good Luck I have never had a camera stolen and I am on national forest ( just moved around by the bears).

I just recently got one to see what's been coming round at night. I've gotten dogs, coons, and possums so far. Mostly I get just me.

The one we bought has a spot on the hanging bracket for a padlock and a cable for wrapping around the tree to further secure it from theft. The game cam actually came with a small padlock to lock the door shut so it couldn't be opened to get to the memory card. You can buy a bearbox that you attach to the tree and install your gamecam into that would protect it.

Bears will destroy a gamecam if they feel like it. It may be that the flash startles them at night, I don't know. My neighbor had a cheap gamecam by his baitpile and a bear ripped it off the tree and chewed it into a blob of metal and plastic. How the memory card survived, I am not sure, but he now has dental records of that bear and a short series of photos that show how a bear goes about dismantling electronics.

I used a Wildgame Innovation game cam. Mine was the SR-2 I think. It was $50 bucks at Walmart a few years ago. It was only 2 megapixels but I loved it. I set it out and got several hundred pics before a flood came. The camera was under water for a month or two before I could get to it. BUT when I got to and cleaned the leaves out of it I was able to retrieve pics and it still worked after a new set of batteries. I even had a picture of the buck I was watching wading in water before it reached the camera. If I buy another cam it will be the one you are talking about.
